Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG) are the two surgical specialties dealing with the female reproductive organs. Obstetrics (from the Latin obstare, “to stand by”) is the surgical specialty dealing with the care of a woman and her offspring during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium (the short period after birth).

The departmental objectives are to encourage the medical graduates to practice the subject of Obstetrics and Gynecology with sincerity adhering to the ethical principles. The post graduate students are trained in all sub specialties like maternal fetal medicine, infertility and urogynecology. Women’s health forms the core objective of this department and several minor and major therapeutic services are offered in this regard.

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in NAVODAYA MEDICAL COLLEGE established in the year 2001 has been providing comprehensive health care for women. We provide regular clinical services in Obstetrics like antenatal care, labor management, postpartum Care services 24 X 7 with obstetric ICU and HDU facilities.
We also provide specialized care in high risk pregnancies like P.I.H, Eclampsia, GDM, Multiple gestations,bad obstetric history etc.,. With the backup of NICU, we are able to salvage preterm babies of 30 weeks on wards.
Highly qualified doctors, with the help of well equipped labor ward, conduct normal and caesarian deliveries. Highly equipped fetal monitoring and advanced laparoscopic operation theatres enable the department to undertake treatments of dreadful maternal and fetal complications.
The post graduate students are engaged in research activities and provide services in camps and outreach activities.

We promote the importance of family planning services in reducing MMR and improving the quality of life and hence offer round the clock services and training for the same.
We focus on preventive healthcare services especially in the field of antenatal care and oncology through designing and executing not only institution based but also population-based outreach programmes, especially for the socially and economically disadvantaged class.

All PGs have to present seminars, journal clubs, case presentations regularly as a part of PG curriculum and credited for the same.
All PGs have to present to do a poster and paper presentation in national / state level conference and have to publish a paper in national/ international journal and have to clear NPTEL – Basic Bio-medical Research Online Examination before appearing to final exams as per NMC and RGUHS guidelines.

Understanding the need and difficulties of patients eagerly waiting to conceive the department of OBG, Navodaya Medical College,Raichur Conducted a CME and workshop INFERTILITY – BASICS AND BEYOND on 25^th November 2022 focusing on providing the 200 delegates and attendees with detailed introduction, Burden of disease, Seminar and case disscusion followed by skilled workshop on IUI and Oocyte retrieval and focusing on various treatment modalities available

Labour Room Complex

The most advanced labour room complex is inaugurated in Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre on 29th June 2011. It leads a new era of obstetrics with the state of art facilities. It encompasses 6 upgraded labour rooms, well equipped operation theatre, 2 Neonatal resuscitation rooms with latest facilities.The renovated labour room complex consist of well equipped Hi-tech operation theatre with all modern equipments like pulse oxymeter, cardiac monitor, CTG facilities, central oxygen supply & emergency resuscitation facilities.
The labour complex consists of 6 labour rooms with 5 aseptic labour rooms and 1 septic labour room. Ultrasonography room in the labour complex consists of modern USG machine for facilitation of quick diagnosis.
Well equipped eclampsia room to take care of eclampsia patient.Obstetric intensive care unit consists of all modern equipment to take care of critically ill patient. The Obst & Gynae dept will feature with newer concept of maternity services with facilities for painless deliveries and 24×7 availability of expert obstericians, neonatologist, anesthetists & midwives
