To commemorate World Blood Donor Day, a Voluntary blood donation drive was
conducted in the Blood Bank, Navodaya Medical College and Hospital on 16 June 2021 in a
symbolic way following the COVID-19 protocol. The camp started after a brief inauguration
ceremony.
The inaugural function was presided by Dr. B. Vijayachandra, Principal, Navodaya
Medical College. The chief guest for the event was Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education
Trust. Brigadier Dr. Ashok Mahendrakar, Veteran, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC,
Raichur, Dr.A.S Anand, Vice principal, Professor and Head of Department of Pathology, NMC,
Raichur, Dr. Mallikarjun, CEO, NMCH&RC, Dr. Narayan Pendlikal, RMO, NMCH&RC and
Dr. Amruth Reddy were among the other dignitaries present.
Dr. Ashraf A. Zubair, Medical officer, Blood Bank, NMCH&RC welcomed the gathering
and gave a brief deliberation of the event and Dr Kajal B.P. Professor, Department of Pathology,
NMC, recognizing the encouragement and support from Management, NET, proposed the vote of
thanks.
The theme for the occasion was “GIVE BLOOD AND KEEP THE WORLD
BEATING” and the event served to highlight the essential contribution blood donors made to
keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving other’s health. It would also help
reinforce the global call for more people all over the world to donate blood regularly and contribute
to better health especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blood units were collected from the voluntary blood donors which included students and
staff of Navodaya group of Institutions and others, Raichur. The conduction of the entire camp
was highly appreciated by the authorities.
