The 2nd edition of COMA 2k19, Conference on Medical Activities and Advancements, a national level undergraduate conference held at Navodaya Medical College Raichur from 8-10 August, 2019. Basic Surgical Skills
As a method for closing cutaneous wounds, the technique of suturing is thousands of years old. Although suture materials and aspects of the technique have changed. the primary goals remain the same, as follows:
Supporting and strengthening wounds until healing increases their tensile strength.
Absorbable sutures include: Polyglycolic Acid sutures, Polyglactin 91 O. Catgut. Poliglecaprone 25 and Polydioxanone sutures.
Non • Absorbable sutures include: Polypropylene sutures, Nylon (poylamide), Polyester, PVDF, silk and stainless steel sutures.
Basic Trauma Management

I believe the choice to become a mother is the choice to become one of the greatest spiritual teachers there is.” –Oprah Winfrey Surrogacy means something different to each person it touches. Why is it that every time someone mentions the topic of surrogacy. giant waves of powerful emotions come flowing in? It seems ironical that people are engaged in the practice of surrogacy when nearly 12 million Indian children are orphans.
For intended parents, it is the chance to finally complete their family and realise their dreams of parenthood. For surrogates, it is the chance of a lifetime to give selflessly to another family who needs them. Surrogacy is an extraordinary journey and a deeply rewarding experience unlike any other.
The rights of the children produced, the ethical and practical ramifications of the further commodification of women’s bodies, the exploitation of women desperate for money; the psychological impacts, the religious, ethical issues, fertility tourism and how it’s becoming a business and fashion for the rich ones also raises a question of its legalization around the world!
There are many factors to consider before pursuing surrogacy, and it not right for everyone. Those who choose surrogacy find that the positives far outweigh the negatives but the moral and ethical consequences of transforming a normal biological function of a woman’s body into a commercial transaction are the issues that should be talked about.
