→ CME cum Hands on Workshop on Cornea
As a part of continuing medical education among health professionals, the Department of Ophthalmology, Navodaya medical college hospital & research centre (NMCH&RC), Raichur has organised “CME cum Hands on Workshop on Cornea” on 8th June 2024 from 8am to 5pm in Dr S.R. Hegde Silver Jubilee auditorium hall, Navodaya Campus. The Programme started after a brief inauguration ceremony. The inaugural function was presided by Dr B. Devanand, Dean/Principal, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur. Dr T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust and Dr Arun Kumar Nayak, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC were guests of honour. Dr A.S. Aanand, Vice principal, NMCH&RC, and Dr Anupama Taklikar, Organizing Chairperson, HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC were among the other dignitaries on the dais. Dr Mallikarjun J. Reddy, CEO, NMCH&RC, Dr Narayana Pendlikal, RMO, NMCH&RC, Dr Narayanappa, Deputy RMO, NMCH&RC, Dr Siddhesh Kumar, HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, RIMS, Raichur and Dr Sadanand L Pujari, Senior Ophthalmologist, Raichur were among the other dignitaries. Around 150 delegates from different medical colleges across Karnataka attended the CME. Dr Reshma, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC welcomed the gathering. Dr Geetamani Bengeri, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC welcomed the guest speakers Dr Vaibhav Kanduri and Dr Mounika Reddy, Cornea Surgeons. Presidential address was delivered by Dr T. Srinivas and Dr B Devanand. Dr Vadikari Lavan Kumar, organizing secretary, Senior Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr T. Srinivas spoke about prevention of blindness and eye donation, and further measures to be taken by the Department of Ophthalmology in this aspect. DR B. Devanand highlighted the importance of vision and eye donation. He emphasised the importance of recent advances in the field of Ophthalmology and efforts taken by NMCH&RC in bringing awareness and making such facilities available to the rural population at affordable prices. Guest Speakers shared their valuable knowledge on Corneal diseases and management. Postgraduates of Department of Ophthalmology from Raichur Institute of medical sciences, Raichur, Gulbarga institute of medical sciences, Gulbarga, Al-Ameen medical college, Vijayapura and S Nijalingappa Medical college, Bagalkot presented interesting cases in the field of ophthalmology. Undergraduates from Navodaya Medical College and Research Centre, enthusiastically participated in the poster competition on topics like corneal blindness, occupational hazards of eye & preventive measures and Fungal corneal ulcer & Health education in rural population on corneal ulcer. Dr Geetamani Bengeri, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC was felicitated for her valuable services in the field of Ophthalmology for past 45 years. Hands on Workshop on corneal tear management was conducted in the Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC, Raichur for postgraduate delegates who attended the CME under the guidance of Guest Faculties Dr Vaibhav and Dr Mounika, Dr Sharanabasamma, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology and Dr Kanchana B K, Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC, Raichur. During Valedictory function Dr A S Aanand and Dr Arun Kumar Nayak shared their inputs and congratulated the Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC including post graduates for successfully organising the CME cum Hands On Workshop on Cornea. -Dr Anupama Taklikar, Head of the Department, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC, Raichur.
