CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC HEALTH EVENTS BY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE
World breast feeding week-2016-17
It was conducted on 4th August 2016 by department of Community Medicine at government sub-centre at Singanodi village. Health education regarding proper breastfeeding practices and infant feeding was given to around 60 antenatal and postnatal mothers.
World heart DAY -2016-17
A screening camp was conducted on 29th September 2016 at Rural Health Training Center Singanodi, around 60 patients who are at risk heart diseases, hypertensive, diabetic patients and elderly from Singanodi and nearby villages participated in event. At the end of session refreshments were distributed to patients and staff.
World Diabetes Day-2016-17
World Diabetes day was celebrated on 14th November 2016 by department of Community Medicine. A Screening camp was undertaken at the premises of KSRTC Depot, Raichur around 200 workers, bus conductors and drivers were tested for blood pressure, random blood sugar by glucometer. Fundoscopy examination for detecting of any eye complications was done by ophthalmology post graduate. At the end of session refreshments were distributed to patients and staff.
WORLD AIDS day-2016-17
World AIDS day was conducted on 1st December 2016, as a part of celebration an awareness rally was conducted by students of 3rd & 4th semester MBBS students along with students from Navodaya Dental College and NET’s Pharmacy college also participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off by Dr B. Vijaychandra, Principal Navodaya Medical College Raichur. A simple but informative street play was performed by dental students regarding routes of transmission of HIV infection. The rally concluded at the DHO office with performance by folk artists.
