“Anti-Ragging Day “

Introduction by Dr. Bande Nawaz, Professor and HOD of FMT:
On August 12, 2023, the institution held a significant event to observe the Anti-Ragging day.
DR A S AANAND, Officiating Principal inaugurated the Anti-Ragging Day and urged members and all senior students to have
commitment to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students in the campus.
Dr. Bande Nawaz, the respected Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT) continued with further proceedings.
He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of respect and empathy among students and highlighted the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
Following Dr. Nawaz’s introduction,
Dr. Sanjay G, Assistant Professor of Physiology, took the stage to delve into the comprehensive anti-ragging rules and regulations in place. Dr. Sanjay elaborated on the various preventive measures undertaken by the institution, including orientation programs for newcomers, awareness campaigns, and the establishment of dedicated helplines. He stressed the collective responsibility of both faculty and students in eradicating any form of ragging within the campus.
Dr. Srinivas Rao, a distinguished Professor of Biochemistry, concluded the event by reiterating the institution’s commitment to ensuring a harmonious academic environment. He underscored the importance of mutual respect, communication, and inclusivity in creating a nurturing space for learning and personal growth.
Attendance and Participants:
The Anti-Ragging Day event was attended by enthusiastic 1st and 2nd MBBS students who displayed their solidarity with the cause by actively engaging in the discussions. Faculties from various departments also joined the event, showcasing their unwavering support for maintaining a ragging-free campus.
Anti Ragging Week 12 to 18 and Competition:
Furthermore, the attendees were informed about the upcoming Anti Ragging Week scheduled from 12th to 18th August 2023. During this week, a series of events, workshops, and interactive sessions will be organized to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging and promote a culture of kindness and respect.
As a part of the Anti Ragging Week, a competition will be held to encourage students to express their perspectives on ragging through creative mediums such as art, poetry, and essays. This initiative aims to provide a platform for students to voice their thoughts and contribute to the ongoing efforts to eliminate ragging from the institution.
