Guest Lecture on Viral Hepatitis - Can We Eradicate by Dr K S Somasekhar Rao

We are pleased to present a comprehensive report on the Academic activity - guest lecture organized by Department of General Medicine Navodaya Medical College Raichur on the topic of "Viral Hepatitis - Can We Eradicate." The Heads of Pre & Para clinical departments & faculty members, Postgraduate students and Interns from the various branches participated. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and discuss the possibilities of prevention and eradication.
After welcoming all the dignitaries with floral bouquet, programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
Guest Speaker & Chief Guest:
Dr Ramkrishna MR, professor, Department of General Medicine introduced the guest speaker Dr. K. S. Somasekhar Rao, a distinguished expert in the field of medicine. Dr. Rao holds impressive qualifications, with an MD in General Medicine and a DM in Gastroenterology. He serves as a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopist at Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, Hyderabad. Dr. Rao's profound knowledge and extensive experience made him an ideal speaker for the event.
Dr. Rao delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on the topic of viral hepatitis. He delved into the various types of viral hepatitis, the modes of transmission, the latest advancements in diagnosis and treatment, and the challenges in eradicating this disease. His lecture was backed by the most up-to-date research and case studies, enlightened about the post exposure prophylaxis for health professionals in case of accidental needle prick injury making it highly informative for all attendees.
Interactive Session:
Following the lecture, an interactive session allowed participants to ask questions and seek clarification on various aspects of viral hepatitis. This session facilitated a lively and engaging discussion, further enriching the learning experience.

Dr. T. Srinivas, the Registrar of NET, Raichur, was the Guest of Honour. His presence added prestige to the lecture and reflected the interdisciplinary importance of addressing viral hepatitis.

The event was presided over by Dr. B. Devanand, the Dean/Principal of NMCH&RC, Raichur. As a respected figure in the academic and medical community, his presence as the presiding authority provided a strong foundation for the lecture and special reference to the National Immunization Schedule & prevention of Hepatitis B infection
Special Guest:
Dr. Arun K. N, the Medical Superintendent of NMCH&RC, graced the event with his presence, highlighting the institutional importance and support for the subject matter.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr Vamshikrishna H, Faculty, Department of General Medicine.
The event was a resounding success, achieving its objective of raising awareness about viral hepatitis. It provided a platform for knowledge exchange and networking among faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns, enhancing the learning experience and professional development.
Special Interactive session during afternoon :
The speaker spent his valuable time in interacting with medicine postgraduates. This interaction shed light on the complex clinical situations that postgraduates often encounter when dealing with patients suffering from gastroenterology and hepatology diseases. Dr. Rao's insights and guidance provided much-needed clarity and guidance to the future medical professionals.
