World Health Day
A program conducted the Urban Field practice area of NMC, Ashapur road.
On April 3 2018
There’s always something new to learn in this world and Life is our biggest teacher. We CRHS organised BCC activity through health education and demonstration at an Anganwadi center in the urban field practice area of our medical college, Ashapur road under the guidance of Assistant professor Dr Swetha Rajeshwar while we were posted in the department of community medicine. We shared information on Dehydration, diarrhea and hand washing and personal hygiene with the children of the school, Anganwadis and their parents who welcomed us with their sheer enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Pictures, charts and demonstrations were made essentially in a way that it’d be easy to comprehend without much work.
Summer is finally here and one of the major drawback of the season other than the obvious rising temperature is dehydration. Children are more prone to succumb to this otherwise harmless condition if not kept in check and so it’s important not only for the kids to learn but also for us to be aware of all the possible outcomes of this condition. Hygiene is another area that goes hand in hand with this subject of discussion. Personal hygiene is one of the most important preliminary barriers when it comes to prevention of most diseases in children and so it is very necessary for the parents as well as the children to know how to properly manage such an easy yet significant process.
To our surprise, the children already had a lot of idea about hand washing techniques indicating towards the fact that people are slowly becoming aware of the ideal practices involved in prevention of diseases.
All in all the program turned out to be a great success because not only we were able to impart knowledge but also receive some from the lights that will brighten up tomorrow’s world. It is only by sharing that we all can progress into a better and healthy world where even though mortality will be a part of life but it’ll not be feared as it is now.
