District Level RNTCP Quiz 2018: 23rd March, 2018
Navodaya Medical College
As part of World TB day, Department of Community Medicine, Navodaya Medical College organized the District Level RNTCP Quiz-2018 on 23-03-2018 at 2 pm in College Auditorium. The quiz programme was held in collaboration with District Tuberculosis Office, Raichur and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences. Two teams from Navodaya Medical College and three teams from Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences were among the top five teams selected based on their score in preliminary College round quiz.
The programme began with a brief overview of events by Dr. Bheemayya B, Prof and Head, Department of Community Medicine. This was followed by student volunteers Rachana from 4th term and Darshan Gowda from 6th term sharing their views on the theme of World Tuberculosis Day 2018: Wanted Leaders for a TB free world. The quiz master Dr. Ayesha Nawaz started the quiz programme following a brief description of rules and regulations of quiz. Mohammed Saifuddin from 8th term and Darshan Gowda from 6th term helped with the scoring. The quiz programme comprised of 8 rounds. After the four rounds during the interval, a video prepared by a team of students headed by Yatish Hegde of 8th term was screened to improve awareness on Tuberculosis.
The results of the quiz are as follows:
Abid and Shariq (6th term students from RIMS) secured First prize
Suraj and Shwetha (6th term students from RIMS) secured Second prize
Pallavi AG and Vaishnavi Buruli (8th term students from Navodaya Medical College) secured Third prize.
Suhas and Vinay Kumar (6th term students from RIMS) and G.Shivani and Sri Vidhya (6th term students from Navodaya Medical College) were the other two teams who participated in the quiz.
Dr. B. Vijayachandra, Principal, Navodaya Medical College and Brig. Dr. A. Mahendrakar, Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Dr.Surendra Babu, District Tuberculosis Officer, Raichur, Dr.Rahul Kirte, Prof and Head, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS and Dr.Shivappa, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS were present in the programme. Professor and heads, faculties and students from various departments also attended the programme.
At the end of the quiz the prizes were distributed to the students who were among the top three teams in the preliminary college round of State RNTCP quiz 2018. Mementos were distributed to the teams which bagged the first three positions in the District level RNTCP Quiz 2018. The mementos were sponsored by DTO, Raichur. All the participants of preliminary college round and District level RNTCP quiz were given the certificate of participation.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr.Ayesha Nawaz, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Navodaya Medical College under the guidance of Dr.Bheemayya B, Prof and Head, Department of Community Medicine. Dr.Shwetha Rajeshwari, Assistant Professor and Dr. Vandana, Postgraduate student participated actively and helped in the co-ordination of the event.
